Address: SS 448 (Todi – Baschi)
It is located about 13 km from Baschi, reached by the SS 448 which leads to Todi. The hermitage is nestled among the silent rocks and the uncontaminated nature overlooking the gorges of Forello, signs say “Pasquarella excursion center”. Its construction dates back to the 11th century and the name is derived from small Easter or first Easter of the year Epiphany. The legends around its origin are different: the most widespread is that according to which, some inhabitants of the nearby village of Acqualoreto, having found the image of the Madonna, brought it to the parish church. However, they had to do this several times because (it is said) that the Madonna always returned to the bed of the ditch where she had been found the first time. In 1873 Don Giuseppe Bernardi managed to rekindle the devotion for the Madonna della Pasquarella, and in 1880 he rebuilt the sacred building. In his book on the history of M. Vergine della Pasquarella, Don Bernardi speaks of a miraculous phenomenon: the sweat of the Madonna and Child. Phenomenon repeated several times in its presence between 1890 and 1900 and always on the day of Epiphany, regardless of the climate, rainfall and the public present.
