In the territory of the Municipality of Castel Viscardo in the locality of Caldane, there is a suggestive Etruscan necropolis inserted in a natural context of great charm, in the thick of a chestnut and oak forest which can be reached by crossing a small wooden bridge and following a path bordered by a fence.
Dating back to the 6th century BC, the Caldane necropolis is made up of about 40 single-chamber tombs of small dimensions. They are excavated in the natural soil and are small in size consisting of a single square-shaped room with docks along the sides and a central dimple, which is accessed by an external corridor, the dromos. The funeral kit recovered here is noteworthy, including a precious mirror. Some of these finds are visible at the National Archaeological Museum of Orvieto.
Also in the territory of the municipality precisely in the locality of Coriglia, near the hamlet of Monterubigaglio there is another archaeological site where excavation campaigns have allowed the identification of Roman remains and structures for regimenting the thermal water from the ancient Fonti di Tiberio.
