Fall in love with Orvieto, on Valentine’s Day the moon falls in the well of San Patrizio

A suggestive moon dropped in Saint Patrick’s Well and a serenade to the city sung from the balconies of the historic center. These are the central dates of the first edition of “Innamorati di Orvieto”, the event promoted by the municipal administration for the Valentine’s weekend, from 14 to 16 February 2020.

“La Luna nel Pozzo” is the title of the Valentine’s Day initiative February 14th, organized in collaboration with Sistema Museo, the Municipal Music School “Adriano Casasole” and the Orvieto DOC wine Consortium. An exclusive romantic evening at the Pozzo of San Patrizio, for the occasion exceptionally open from 22:30 to midnight, reserved for 72 couples as many as the windows overlooking the engineering work created by Antonio Da Sangallo the Younger.

Couples will be accompanied down the 254 steps by a themed guided tour, with theatrical performances and musical interludes of arches, and they will be able to admire a suggestive illuminated full moon descending into the 54 meters of the Well of San Patrizio. Also scheduled is a wine tasting and a photo contest on Instagram.

On Saturday 15 February from 17:00 to 20:00, the attention will shift within the historic center with the “Serenata alla città”, a series of concerts which will be held from some of the balconies overlooking Corso Cavour, via of the Duomo and Piazza della Repubblica. In addition, from 18:00 to 20:00, in the Atrium of the Palazzo dei Sette, an appointment with “Taste, love and… imagination”, free tasting of typical products by the producers of the “Terre d’Orvieto” partnership.

Finally on Sunday 16 February the artistic installation of the Luna del Pozzo will be free to visit by residents of the Municipality of Orvieto.
