Volcanological Museum to which in 2004 a path was added that develops inside the former Venanzite quarry and where 265,000 years ago 3 small volcanoes (called “bonsai” volcanoes) were active, whose lava flows produced effusive rocks and minerals including precisely the “Venanzite“, a rock studied since the end of the 1800s for its unusual origin and composition and unique in the world.
The Volcanological Museum housed in a building near the town hall, exhibits this rare mineral as well as fossils of animals and plants and an antiquarium where it is possible to admire finds from the Etruscan-Roman era found in the area. The museum can be visited in about 45 minutes, taking advantage of the presence of the guides on site, while the path of the park can be done comfortably in less than an hour, requiring no special clothing or technical equipment.
