The castle is located in the hamlet of Montegiove, not far from Montegabbione. The structure was built in the 13th century by the Bulgarelli Lombard family, counts of Parrano and Marsciano. The original shape of the castle provided for an ovoid wall, in which there was a low entrance tower, open on one side and with a door equipped with a shutter. In the fifteenth century the castle was disputed by famous local captains of fortune such as Fortebraccio and Gattamelata. It is in this period that, having lost its original function as a defensive outpost, the structure assumes a more elegant and residential aspect. Today the castle, partly used as a private accommodation facility, can be visited by appointment all year round. The guided tour includes the park, a section of the internal rooms and the ancient cellar of the 1500s.
